Formation of the Band:
Rage Against the Machine was formed in 1991. Jon Knox (Tom Morello’s former band member) motivated Zack de la Rocha and Tim Commerford to form a band alongside Tom Morello because Tom wanted to start a new band. After contacting them, Tom got in touch with Brad Wilk who had been rejected by two bands already, Pearl Jam and Lock-Up. So, these four got together and formed a band called Rage Against the Machine.
Members of the band:
Tim Commerford – American Musician, Bassist, and Backing Vocalist. Zack de la Rocha- American Musician, Singer, Rapper, Songwriter, and Activist. Tom Morello- American Musician, Singer, Songwriter, Actor, and Political Activist. Brad Wilk- American Musician, Actor, Drummer, and Activist.
Career:
After the formation of the band, on 23rd October 1991, they performed for the first time at Quad of California State University, Northridge. The band made a demo tape named Rage Against the Machine which was laid on a twelve-song self-released cassette. The final album, however, consisted of only 7 songs as 2 were included as B-sides while 3 were never released officially. They finally released their first album with Epic Records although many record labels were interested. Their debut album got triple Platinum status with the song “Killing in the Name” is the song most liked and most played. They gained success with it and started working on more albums and even for movies. They have given their music and songs for various movies like ‘Higher Learning’, ‘the Crow’, ‘Godzilla’ and many more. Given below is their first blockbuster song.
In 1996, after a long rumor of the band being broken they released their second album ‘Evil Empire’ which made it to the #1 on Billboard’s Top 200. They started opening for other bands and even doing their own tours and used to donate their earnings to charity. Most of their songs are to express their revolutionary political views. The band reunited to headline on the final day of Coachella 2007. They began to tour again the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and many mother countries. From 2011, the members of the band started working on different projects but would still be seen together at some tours and concerts. Recently in 2019, the band was reuniting and announced their world tour in the spring of 2020. Consequently, the tour got postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and is now scheduled to return in the summer of 2021.

Recently in 2017 and 2018 the band was also nominated for their induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame but couldn’t make it.
Controversies:
In October 2000, de la Rocha announced this exit saying that their decision-making process was failing completely. But Morello, Wilk, and Commerford decided to stick together and started looking for a fresh vocalist. So they formed a band called Audioslave with Chris Cornwell. But this band broke soon in 2007 after giving a number of hits. After the disbanding of Audioslave, the members of Rage Against the Machine were offered huge amounts of money to reunite and the rumor finally came out to be true when they were doing to reunite at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2007.
